I have reached a new rung on my ladder of public speaking. Yesterday I was the speaker at an annual dinner to honor caregivers in N.Ky. My topic was being joyful...no matter what the circumstances. Being joyful is a choice. And I needed to fill my talk with humor. If the audience laughing was an indication of my funny stories, I have to say that I was humorous.
It serves to prove to me that God has a sense of humor. If anyone who knew me 40 years ago had been told that I would be a speaker who makes people laugh, THEY would probably have said that that is the funniest thing they have ever heard!
Two important messages from this:
God can do amazing things with people.
Even widows are allowed to reach new rungs of a ladder. To do the unexpected. To be a different persona on this side of the passing of a spouse than they ever were when married.
It is all good. And makes me curious what I will be like in 5 more years.
I frequently speak to various caregiver groups, and would love to see as many people as possible. Come share your stories with me and the rest of the group.
I just started reading your book yesterday... -- Nancy Kloepfer
